When you send your child to camp, you are trusting us with what matters most. We take that trust to heart. From our Wellness Center to the pool deck to the bus ride home, here is how we care for every camper, every day.
Our Wellness Center
Licensed medical professionals staff our Wellness Center every camp day. They care for campers who aren’t feeling well or need a little first aid, and they will always contact you if your camper is sick, injured, or needs to go home.
- Health forms: so we can care for your child from day one, we’ll need each camper’s medical form and immunization record before the first day. You’ll complete them online, at your own pace, in your CampSite account.
- Medications: only our health care staff administer medications, with your written authorization and in the original labeled container. All medications are kept in a locked cabinet.
- Allergies: we share each camper’s allergy and dietary information with our health team, Counselors, and kitchen, so everyone who cares for your child is prepared.
- Illness and injury: if your camper is sick or hurt, we will contact you promptly, and any emergency is handled according to our written emergency procedures.
Wellness Center hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on camp days. To reach our health team, call the camp’s main number, (732) 531-9102.
Keeping Campers and Staff Safe
Safety is built into everything we do, starting long before the first camper arrives.
- We choose our staff with care: every staff member is interviewed, has references checked, and completes a background screening.
- Every staff member is trained before campers arrive.
- We have clear emergency and severe-weather procedures, and our staff know them well.
- Campers are actively supervised throughout the camp day.
- Our friendly, professionally trained security officers are armed and are a valued part of our camp family. Each morning, they welcome campers at the entrances to our building, and they stay at the entrances all day to keep our campus secure, so campers can relax and focus on the fun, and parents can have peace of mind.
- American Red Cross–trained aquatics staff and Lifeguards watch over every swim.
- Staff ride along on camp transportation and trips to supervise and help campers. See Transportation + Care.
Feeling Safe Inside and Out
Children thrive when they feel welcome, included, and heard. Our staff work to build groups where every camper is respected, and where children know they can always talk to a trusted adult when something doesn’t feel right.
Bullying and Our Commitment to Kindness
At Camp Moxie, every child belongs. Every camper deserves a happy, healthy summer full of new friends, new skills, and great memories, and bullying gets in the way of that. Our values of Curiosity, Courage, and Community start with treating everyone with kindness and respect.
What Bullying Is
Bullying is when one or more people use their power to hurt, control, or exclude someone else on purpose. It can look like teasing, taunting, name-calling, gossip, leaving someone out, or hitting and kicking. Bullying can also happen online, through texts, group chats, social media, and email, and it can continue outside of camp.
Our Policy
Camp Moxie does not tolerate bullying of any kind, whether it happens in person or online.
How We Prevent It
- Our staff are trained before the summer to recognize bullying, build groups where every camper feels included, and step in early.
- Counselors and Division Leaders encourage open, positive communication, so campers feel comfortable speaking up.
- Our leadership team takes every concern seriously.
When a Concern Is Reported
Our leadership team reviews every concern, talks with the campers and staff involved, communicates with families as appropriate, and takes steps to protect campers and restore a healthy, supportive group.
How Families Can Help
- Talk with your child about kindness, and about telling a trusted adult whenever something doesn’t feel right.
- If your camper mentions anything that worries you, during the summer or between seasons, please reach out to your Division Leader or our Camp Directors right away.
- Remind older campers that group chats and social media should be kind places, too.
Working together, we can make sure every camper and staff member has a great summer at Camp Moxie.
