The Last Step Before Staff
Our Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is for campers entering 10th grade, and it’s the final summer before becoming a member of our staff. CITs build on everything they learned as campers and LITs, and start putting it into practice every day.
Learning by Doing
About three-quarters of a CIT’s day is spent working with a camp group or in a specialty area. Guided by our Counselors and Specialists, CITs learn hands-on how to lead activities, support campers, and work as part of a team. These are skills they’ll use at camp and wherever life takes them next.
Growing as Leaders
Later in the day, CITs meet with their Division Leader for meaningful conversations about real-life skills. They also take on team-building challenges and problem-solving activities, and each week they choose a few camp activities to enjoy, too.
Giving Back Together
What makes our CITs special is the work they do for others. Each summer, CITs team up with our LITs on a project that gives back to our community, such as volunteering with local food pantries or senior centers. Together, they also plan and run their own fundraiser for a charity they choose, learning firsthand how much of a difference they can make.
CIT is a leadership program for campers, and it’s the step right before joining our staff.
